Since we do not yet have many local distribution points for over the counter purchases we do also sell direct to jobsites and projects in areas where we are not locally represented. We do regularly ship in pallet or less than pallet quantities for any size job within locations where we can reach from area depots.

We respond to emails promptly and provide you with specific contact information in our reply or will direct you to your area representatives with their contact information to further assist you.

Notes * STC 50 is typical code requirement for hotels, motels, apartments, condominiums, monasteries and convents blocking approx 50 dB… loud speech cannot be understood. STC 60 is typically specified for highly sensitive areas blocking around 60 db off sound volumes… loud speech cannot be heard….

Using 12mm or 15mm magnesiacore in these applications will result in much higher sound control. These are standard installation design tests and each had screws going from the front face through the second and to the stud which created shortcircuits. Using staples between the layers of magnesiacore and having only the second or back sheet fastened directly to the stud will reduce these shortcircuits improving the acoustical performance even more.

Results are in from additional independent testing on the acoustical properties of magnesiacore (official tests to be published soon). Generally speaking in conventional acoustical installations 9mm (3/8″) magnesiacore is considered better than 5/8″ (15mm) gypsum board based on laboratory tests with standard designs. STC 60 using double layer of 3/8″ magnesiacore and acoustical goo on either side of a metal partition as one example. In addition, there are many unique installations possible with magnesiacore for higher acoustical ratings and other benefits that are impractical to work with using gypsum board or acoustical boards. We used 3/8″ (9mm) magnesiacore and pop rivets to apply over aluminum framing with an exceptional and fast connection.

Pop rivet fasteners can be used to apply magnesiacore over existing metal and aluminum frames… for say to do a makeover of a sectional garage door; an existing hollow metal door and even the sectional steel door frame.

You can’t do this with cement board, drywall or plywood material.

The nail holes are virtually not visible and can be filled with painters putty during priming and painting. Finishing nails do not pull out or pull through magnesiacore once gun nailed in. We have also carefully but fairly easily pried off magnesiacore panels with a flat crowbar after it was nail gunned on to wood framing, and are able to reuse it after snipping off parts of the nail that remain firmly in the board without structural damage to the board.

In the 1970’s before drywall began to take over as the most common interior wallboard used in North America there were other ways to make partitions. Things like plastering (even with portland cement for higher resistance) troweled on to expanded metal lath or over wood strips as battens, which many people have encountered renovating older homes in North America, are then finished off with fine finishing lime, as example of things preceding today’s paper faced drywall. These older more labor intensive works became more expensive and the expert tradesmen necessary to get a good job done have slowly all but vanished after centuries. This is due to the higher efficiencies gained working with a gypsum board and screws, taped together and filled as we see done in the current faster cheaper methods available.

In other parts of the world the plastering methods are still quite common and when wood is not a structural option, walls are built with fired clay block, cinder blocks, or reinforced concrete and then plastered over with lime plasters to make partitions and finished walls ready for painting.

In each case options exist for different value and higher quality of construction.
