Results are in from additional independent testing on the acoustical properties of magnesiacore (official tests to be published soon). Generally speaking in conventional acoustical installations 9mm (3/8″) magnesiacore is considered better than 5/8″ (15mm) gypsum board based on laboratory tests with standard designs. STC 60 using double layer of 3/8″ magnesiacore and acoustical goo on either side of a metal partition as one example. In addition, there are many unique installations possible with magnesiacore for higher acoustical ratings and other benefits that are impractical to work with using gypsum board or acoustical boards. Please contact Magnesiacore Inc. to discuss your acoustical installations and the improved benefits possible from using magnesiacore.
